Choose the accessory for the problem you have.

These nine options come from manufacturer documentation. They solve different problems. If your existing ports and cables already meet the need, keep using them. These accessories do not add native USB-C video output to a data-only port or guarantee compatibility with every laptop.

Complete drive or empty enclosure?

Have a compatible bare NVMe SSD? An enclosure lets you reuse it. The Plugable USBC-NVME needs a separate 2230, 2242, 2260 or 2280 NVMe drive; it does not accept M.2 SATA.

Need the drive as well? Compare a complete portable SSD such as the T7 Shield. Check the host connection, filesystem and all required parts before buying. Keep another copy of important files; neither choice replaces a backup.

Can a ThinkPad T15p Gen 1 use USB-C to HDMI?

Lenovo documents the T15p Gen 1 USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 port as supporting DisplayPort 1.2, so the correct direction is laptop USB-C source to HDMI display. Lenovo lists HDMI output up to 4K60 and Thunderbolt output up to 5K60, but those platform limits do not guarantee that every HDMI adapter can deliver 5K60. Match the adapter and display to the resolution and refresh you need. If the laptop’s HDMI port failed, this adapter path may provide another output, but it does not repair the underlying hardware fault. Read Lenovo’s PSREF.

You need more ports while traveling

Plugable USBC-7IN1E adds HDMI, Gigabit Ethernet, two USB-A data ports, SD/microSD, and USB-C PD input.

Advertised 4K60 HDMI requires host DP 1.4 Alt Mode. DP 1.2 can limit resolution or refresh. A 100W PD input is not a promise of 100W delivered to the laptop.

For photo and video imports, its SD and microSD readers use UHS-I, with a documented 104 MB/s bus rating. That is not a measured file-transfer speed or UHS-II performance; a faster laptop USB port does not change the reader's bus standard.

You need wired Ethernet

Plugable USBC-E2500 is a 2.5GbE adapter with USB-C and included USB-A adaptation. It supports slower Ethernet rates too.

Actual speed depends on host USB bandwidth, network equipment, and cabling. It does not provide laptop PD charging. Check operating-system support before purchase.

You need laptop USB-C video on an HDMI display

Plugable USBC-HDMI converts a video-capable laptop USB-C or Thunderbolt source to HDMI 2.0.

Up to 4K60 depends on the source, display, and HDMI cable. It is directional: laptop USB-C source to HDMI display. It is not HDMI-source-to-USB-C-monitor conversion.

You need powered USB peripherals

Plugable USB3-HUB7C provides seven USB-A ports, USB 3.0 5Gbps, and an included 36W power supply. Two ports support BC 1.2 device charging.

It is not laptop USB-C PD charging or Alt Mode video. The manufacturer revision and retailer bundle may differ, so do not assume an included USB-C host cable.

You need to share USB peripherals

Plugable USB3-SWITCH2 switches USB 3.0 peripherals between two computers with a button.

Skip it if you use one computer. It is not a monitor KVM, does not pass USB-C Alt Mode or PD, and does not support USB-C or Thunderbolt docking stations. USB-C-only computers need separate USB-A adaptation.

You need portable NVMe storage

Plugable USBC-NVME is a tool-free USB 10Gbps enclosure for M.2 NVMe sizes 2230, 2242, 2260, and 2280. The SSD is separate.

Skip it if you have M.2 SATA or need a complete portable drive. A USB4 connection does not turn this enclosure into a USB4 PCIe enclosure.

You need a complete portable SSD

Samsung T7 Shield 1TB Black (MU-PE1T0S/AM) is a complete external SSD. Samsung documents a USB 3.2 Gen 2, 10Gbps interface and includes USB-C-to-C and USB-C-to-A cables in the standard package.

Host support affects speed. Factory exFAT supports documented Windows and Mac read-write use; filesystem changes can erase existing contents. Check your device requirements before buying.

You need a basic wireless mouse

Logitech M185 Grey is a compact wireless mouse using a USB receiver, with manufacturer support for Windows, macOS, ChromeOS, and Linux.

Skip it if you need Bluetooth or a rechargeable mouse. It needs a suitable USB port or adapter.

Keep the supplied receiver with the mouse. Logitech lists M185 hardware revisions with different receivers. Check the model number marked M/N under your mouse against Logitech's revision table before seeking a replacement or sharing a receiver with an existing keyboard. This guide has not verified those combinations.

You need to raise a laptop

Twelve South Curve Flex is a folding laptop stand for supported devices at least 8.66 inches wide and up to 7 lb, with a documented 0 to 45 degree keyboard angle.

Skip it if your laptop is outside those size or weight limits. The manufacturer's 22-inch statement refers to the top of a supported laptop screen, not stand height. No comfort or stability outcome is promised.

What this guide cannot solve

These native-video accessories cannot add video support that the laptop port does not provide.
